for those of you who swam or did yoga during pregnancy did it help?
November 10, 2008I am thinking of taking up swimming and baby yoga now (23 weeks) to see if it will help me with the labour and also will it help me so after the birth I wont look as bad?
For those of you who have done this did it help you??(unless of course u ended up getting a section)
Thankyou
I did pilates and walking atleast 4-5 times a day all the way until 30 weeks. Then I was put on bedrest. I still did some very light pilates because I got bored, so I did it almost all the way through my pregnancy. I pushed my son out in 15 minutes and did not tear. I was able to move around and not feel much 3-4 days after delivery. IT was also easy to stay with my exercise routine AFTER the baby was born which I think helps a lot. After delivery, you’re going to look about 4-5 months pregnant no matter what. You WILL have a jelly belly for a few weeks, it very slowly goes down. It may be big or small. Just remember you had that baby in you for 37-40 weeks, it will take time for your belly to go back to normal. I strongly suggest swimming or yoga, I think any exercise (even just walking) helps tremendously.

I did a lot of walking while I was pregnant. I know that helped me get ready for labor. I probably walked 1-2 miles a day. It was also summer so I did swim quite a bit but mostly because it helped relieve some of my back pain. I also did a lot of my own stretching which I know also helped me out and gave me the strength and flexibility I needed.

lol…girl don’t worry about looking bad after..mothers glow once their little ones are born,it even shines through the bags under their eyes from lack of sleep!!
back to the question..with my daughter i walked sooo much and found the labour quite quick and easy. i recovered well and left the hospital the next day but now im pregnant with my son i have passed my test and drive a lot. so now i go to water aerobics twice a weeks. and i swim at least on 2 separate occasions-from classes. i have found my weight hasn’t crept up on me, its actually been the same for the past 3 months. I am as confused as you are!!but he is healthy and is growing well so i must be getting smaller. i feel refreshed and like im actually doing something rather then be lazy. the water protects the baby and ur weaken limbs so i would fully recommend it cause its fun and i have a laugh with the other women there. good luck!!
